What Is MyFans? A Beginner's Guide for Overseas Fans

If you've seen MyFans mentioned in a Reddit thread or a JAV community and aren't sure what it actually is, this covers the basics: what the platform does, what you can do on it as a fan, what it costs to get started, and what to check before you sign up from outside Japan. The platform details below were checked against MyFans' own help pages on 10 October 2026.
What MyFans actually is
- MyFans is a Japanese subscription platform where independent creators post exclusive content and interact directly with fans — the same basic model as OnlyFans, but built around Japan's creator scene specifically.
- Creators set their own monthly subscription price (MyFans allows ¥50 to ¥50,000, and free plans exist), and fans can also buy individual posts or send tips on top of that.
- It's not an AV (adult video) production platform like FANZA — there's no studio behind it. Creators are independent, similar to how OnlyFans creators operate.
What you can do as a fan
MyFans' help page lists it plainly: view creators' posts, follow accounts, like posts, subscribe to plans, buy single posts, send tips and Super Comments, and send direct messages.

How it's different from what you're used to
- Language: MyFans has its own language setting, so you're not stuck machine-translating a Japanese-only site. MyFans recommends using that setting rather than your browser's page translation, which it says can break parts of the display.
- Verification for fans: signing up as a fan only takes an email or X account, with no ID upload. Paying is a separate step: myFans requires a name and a verified phone number before any payment. Its help page doesn't say whether numbers from outside Japan are accepted.
- Two content modes: MyFans lets you choose which kind of content it shows you — general adult, gay/BL, or all-ages. Switching to all-ages hides adult posts, including ones you've already bought, until you switch back.
- Payment: this is the one place where things get less straightforward for overseas users — see the payment guide linked below before you try to subscribe.
Can you use it from outside Japan?
Yes. MyFans' help page says people outside Japan can register and that the service can be used from overseas with a credit card. The cards it lists are Visa, Mastercard, and JCB. The Japanese pay-later options it also offers need a Japanese phone number, so they're not available to overseas fans.
Registering is one thing; paying is another. MyFans says some cards can't be used because of the payment company it works with, and that it can't tell you which. If your card is declined, the payment troubleshooting guide is about exactly that.
Is it safe / legit?
- MyFans states that it has filed the notification Japan requires of businesses that distribute adult video online, and publishes its notification number (20211100086). It is not an unregulated site.
- Use by anyone under 18 is prohibited, and MyFans says an age check is required on entering the site. It also excludes 18-year-olds who are still in high school.
- On your card statement the charge appears as a short billing descriptor — "W Myfans" — so the platform name is partly recognizable, but nothing about the creator you subscribed to or what you bought is included. See the bank statement guide for the full detail.

Who it suits, and who it doesn't
- It suits you if you're specifically looking for Japanese independent creators. That's the scene MyFans is built around, and many of those creators aren't on international platforms.
