About this site
Fan's Notebook is a set of English guides to MyFans, the Japanese creator platform, written for fans outside Japan. MyFans' own help pages are mostly in Japanese, and the questions overseas fans have — will my card work, what shows on my statement, how do I cancel — are scattered across them. These guides collect the answers in one place.
The site is independent. It isn't run by MyFans or by any creator, and it doesn't recommend individual creators.
How the guides are checked
- The source is MyFans' own help pages. When a guide states a rule, a price limit or a fee, it comes from what MyFans publishes, read in the original Japanese.
- Guides say when they were checked. A guide that was checked against the help pages gives the date they were read. Every guide also shows when it was last updated, under its title.
- If MyFans doesn't say, the guide says so. Some things aren't in the help pages — the exact purchase fee, for example. Where that happens the guide tells you it's unstated and where to look on your own screen, rather than guessing.
- No typical prices without a source. Creators set their own prices. The guides give the limits MyFans publishes, not an invented average.
Rules and prices change. If a guide and MyFans' own screen disagree, trust the screen.
How the site is paid for
Links to MyFans marked (affiliate link) pay this site a commission if you sign up and buy something. It costs you nothing extra. Every guide that has one says so under its title, and a separate page sets out what the link pays and where the money comes from.
There are no other ads, and nobody pays to be mentioned.
What the site records
- There are no accounts, comment forms or cookies.
- When you click an affiliate link, the site counts the click: the time, which guide and which link it was, and the country the request came from. It doesn't store your IP address.
- The typefaces are loaded from Google Fonts, so your browser makes a request to Google when a page loads.
Adults only
MyFans is open only to people aged 18 or over, and these guides are written for adults. The site itself is text and diagrams.
