Is MyFans Safe and Legit? What to Know Before You Pay

PR: this page contains affiliate links. What this site earns from them.
MyFans is a real, operating Japanese platform that publishes its legal registration and its enforcement numbers. That makes it legitimate. Whether it's safe for you depends on a few specific things — what you hand over, what can go wrong with a payment, and what you can't get back. This page goes through each. Checked against MyFans' help pages on 10 October 2026.
Is MyFans legit?
- It publishes its registration. Japan requires businesses that distribute adult video online to file a notification. MyFans states that it has, and publishes the number: 20211100086.
- It has an age rule and says how it enforces it. Under-18s are prohibited, as are 18-year-olds still in high school. MyFans says an age check is required on entering the site.
- It reviews content. MyFans' moderation policy describes manual review of videos, images, text, profiles, comments, and messages, plus a user report function.
- It publishes what it enforces. MyFans posts a monthly report. For May 2026 it reported 6.81% of reviewed content rejected and 180 accounts suspended for fraudulent use. For July 2026: 12.93% rejected and 17 accounts suspended.
None of that makes it risk-free. It does mean you're dealing with an identifiable operator, not an anonymous site.
What you have to hand over
| To do this | MyFans asks for |
|---|---|
| Register and browse | An email address or an X account |
| Pay for anything | Your name, a phone number verified by SMS or voice call, and a payment method |
| Join a free plan | Payment details too, though MyFans says no charge is made |
The phone step is the one people don't expect. MyFans says a payment can't be made until the number is verified, that one number can't be used on more than one account, and that Japanese 050 numbers aren't accepted. Its help page doesn't say whether numbers from outside Japan work. If you're overseas, find that out at the verification screen before you buy a prepaid code or plan around a subscription.
What a creator can see
From a creator's side you're a nickname and a subscription record. The name and phone number are collected by MyFans for payment and verification, not as part of your profile. The privacy guide has the detail, including how to keep the account from being linked back to you.
Is it safe to pay?
- The charge is labelled discreetly, not invisibly. It appears as "W Myfans", with no creator name or content description. The bank statement guide covers exactly what shows.
- Your card details go when you do. MyFans states that the card information on an account is deleted when the account is deleted.
- A declined card isn't a sign of a scam. MyFans says some cards can't be used because of the payment company it works with, and that it can't tell you which. The payment guide covers the fixes.
- You can check every charge. The purchase history lists each purchase with its date, amount, and the last four digits of the card used.
The real risks
These are the things that actually cost fans money, and none of them is fraud:
- Refunds are close to non-existent. MyFans doesn't pro-rate a cancelled plan, and says it won't refund because a plan's content differed from what was described — that's between you and the creator.
- Plans renew until you cancel. Unfollowing a creator or leaving the site doesn't stop the charge.
- Content can disappear. A post you bought stays viewable if the creator deletes it, but not if MyFans removes it for a rule violation or the creator closes their account.
- Cancelling cuts access the same day. You don't keep a plan's posts until the end of the month you paid for.
The cancellation guide covers how to avoid paying for a month you didn't want.
Sensible precautions
- Go to MyFans through its own address, in Safari or Chrome — not through an in-app browser or an unfamiliar link.
- Use an email address and nickname you don't use elsewhere.
- Start with one plan from one creator, and note the renewal date.
- Check the total on the payment screen. MyFans adds a purchase fee on top of the listed price.
- If someone bothers you, block them. A block also hides their messages.
Bottom line
MyFans is a legitimate, registered platform. The risk that matters is the ordinary one: recurring charges, a strict no-refund policy, and content you don't permanently own. Knowing those three before you subscribe is most of what "safe" means here.
