Is MyFans Free? What Costs Money and What Doesn't
Last updated
PR: this page contains affiliate links. What this site earns from them.
Yes, partly. Registering on MyFans is free, and some of what creators post is free. Most of what people come for is paid. This page separates the two, using MyFans' own help pages, checked on 10 October 2026.
What's free and what isn't
| What | Free? |

| Creating an account | Yes |

| Posts a creator has made free | Yes |

| A creator's paid plan | No — ¥50 to ¥50,000 a month, set by the creator |
| A single post (PPV) | No — ¥100 to ¥50,000 |
| Tips and Super Comments | No — ¥100 to ¥5,000, and optional |
| MyFans Premium | No — ¥1,980 a month, and optional |
Registering costs nothing
MyFans' help page puts it in one line: registration is free, and payment is needed when you view a creator's paid content. Signing up as a fan takes an email address or an X account. There's no membership fee for simply having an account.
Paying is where more is asked of you. MyFans requires a name and a verified phone number before any payment. Its help page doesn't say whether numbers from outside Japan are accepted.
The catch with free plans
A creator can set a plan at ¥0. Joining one makes you a fan of that creator in MyFans' terms, the same as a paying subscriber.
But MyFans asks you to enter payment details even to join a free plan. Its help page says no charge is made if free plans are all you use. So "free" here means no charge — it doesn't mean you can skip the card step. If your card is one that gets declined on MyFans, that step can still stop you; the payment troubleshooting guide covers the fixes.
What free posts are for
MyFans' own advice to creators is to use free posts to show what they're like — an introduction, the kind of thing they post, a preview of what's behind the paywall — and to keep the main content paid. That's a useful thing to know as a fan: free posts are a sample, by design. They tell you whether a creator is worth paying for. They aren't a way to follow someone without paying.
The smallest amount you can spend
- The cheapest a paid plan can be is ¥50 a month. The cheapest a single post can be is ¥100.
- Those are the limits MyFans allows, not typical prices. Each creator chooses their own, up to ¥50,000.
- MyFans adds a purchase fee at checkout on top of the listed price. Its help pages don't state the amount, so read the total on the payment screen.
- If your card isn't in yen, your card company converts the charge and may add its own overseas fee.
The pricing guide goes through each of those in detail.
Charges people don't expect
- Plans renew automatically. A paid plan charges again on the same day of the following month until you cancel it. Unfollowing a creator doesn't cancel it.
- A plan doesn't cover everything. A creator can sell individual posts separately, even to subscribers.
- Joining a second plan doesn't replace the first. MyFans has no plan switching. Join a creator's pricier plan without cancelling the cheaper one and you pay for both.
- Cancelling doesn't refund. MyFans doesn't return the unused part of a month.
None of these is hidden — each is in MyFans' help pages — but none is obvious on day one. The cancellation guide has the steps for stopping a plan.
Is there a free trial?
Not for creators' content as a platform-wide feature. What exists is creator-level: free plans, and first-month discounts that a creator can choose to offer. MyFans notes that a creator's first-month discount doesn't apply when you pay with BitCash, and doesn't apply to card payments on plans above a certain price.
MyFans' payment page also refers to a free period for MyFans Premium, but its Premium help page doesn't describe the terms. Check the sign-up screen before relying on it.
Bottom line
You can register, look around, follow creators, and see free posts without paying. To see what a creator actually sells, you pay that creator's price — and the amount is theirs to set, so the only way to know is to look at the creator's own page.
